Red Ribbon Wk 2014 Love Yourself Image

Red Ribbon Week October 27th – 31st

“Love Yourself. Be Bully & Drug Free!”

Red Ribbon Week is a national drug prevention and awareness campaign that began with the murder of Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, an undercover DEA agent, in 1985. Camarena wanted to make a difference even though he knew he was only one man. He died at the hands of drug traffickers.

Soon, coalitions began to form by those outraged by the death and the devastation drugs in this country caused. They wore red ribbons to honor him. By wearing a red ribbon in October, Americans pledge their opposition to drugs.

Join Arcado in observing Red Ribbon Week by explaining how important it is to make HEALTHY CHOICES and thoughtful choices AGAINST BULLYING. This year our Health Committee has organized the following events in honor of Red Ribbon Week:

Monday: Students wear Team Spirit Wear and Red Ribbons to “Team-up against Drugs”

Tuesday: RED Day and wear Red Ribbons and Stickers.

Wednesday: Wacky Tacky Day – students wear tacky clothes and Red Ribbon “Making Unhealthy Choices and Bullying is Wacky!”

Thursday: HAT DAY – Bring $1 and get to wear a hat to school and Red Ribbon. “Put a Cap on Unhealthy Choices and Bullying!”

Friday: Dress as your favorite Book Character and wear sticker provided by teacher. “My Character Counts, I am Drug and Bully Free!”
